About our Event

As a participatory conference, Gender Equality and YOU brought together 250 participants from all over Europe to take part in an open dialogue on the future of gender equality in the EU.

The event has been prepared together with young people in a series of workshops, to identify the topics that shaped the agenda of the conference.

The conference Gender Equality and YOU took place in the permanent conference facility of the Austrian Presidency of the Council of the EU: the Austria Centre Vienna, Bruno-Kreisky-Platz 1, 1220 Vienna.

Meetings of Gender Equality Ministers of EU, EFTA and Western Balkans took place in parallel.

How to join the conference

Participation at the conference is free for all attendants.

Up to two young people per EU Member State have already been selected as participants during an application process that is already closed.

The total number of participants is limited due to the venue and working methods of the conference. Therefore, no more registrations can be accepted.

If you have already received a confirmation of your registration, please remember to complete the accreditation until 27 September the latest.

How to get there

The Austrian EU-Presidency is committed to promoting sustainability and we therefore encourage all attendees to use public transport.

Participants of the event are entitled to a free bus or train ticket from Vienna Airport to the city centre or to the Austria Center Vienna. For further information please see the practical information sheet.

To get to the Austria Center Vienna you can use underground line U1 (red line) to the Kaisermühlen-Vienna International Center station. You can plan your intinerary online at anachb.at.

At the Metro station, take Exit Schüttaustrasse, then cross the Platz-der-Vereinten-Nationen (United Nations Square) and follow the Aristides-de-Sousa-Mendes-Promenade to reach the East Entrance of the Austria Center.

Located immediately following the security check in the entrance area on Level 0 is the accreditation desk for delegates. An escalator and elevators lead to Level -2, where the conference rooms are located. For more details, please see the floor plans of the Austria Center Vienna.

When planning your itinerary please make sure to take into account the security procedure at the conference venue.

Important Information on Security

For security reasons, all participants have to fill out the online event accreditation until 27 September (the accreditation link will be sent directly to confirmed participants). This is necessary to provide a badge to get admitted to the venue. Participants may obtain their badges at the accreditation desk.

Please note that the security procedure at the conference venue will be similar to airport standards, e.g. liquids will be accepted only up to 100ml.

Green Presidency Event

The Austrian Presidency is committed to be a green presidency and organises all its events sustainably and green. This conference fulfills the criteria of the Austrian Ecolabel for Green MeetingsWe will strive to organise a sustainable, inclusive and participatory event on the levels of mobility (see “how to get there”), catering, and sustainable give aways as well as by carefully taking into account an inclusive and gender-fair conference programme.

What can you do?

As a conference participant you can contribute to our green meeting, e.g. by …

  • using public transport to travel to the conference venue and across Vienna;
  • turning off lights, TV, computer, air condition etc. when you leave your hotel room;
  • reducing and recycling waste;
  • using digital devices instead of paper;
  • returning your badges at the end of the conference.

Data Protection/Processing

With your consent given above, your data will be stored electronically for six months after the end of the Austrian Presideny. You are entitled to withdraw your consent at any time and without giving a reason. To do so, you need to inform the Austrian Federal Chancellery of your intention to withdraw your consent.

Enquiries you make regarding your funding for travel and accomodation will be stored electronically for five years by the Austrian Federal Chancellery for the purposes of reimbursement of your travel costs and reportting towards the European Commission.
